Confirmed 2011 dates: May 30 - June 2, 2011 Fees: $1,600 (subject to change/increase based on final participant numbers) DESCRIPTION: This 4-day Dental Hygiene Refresher Course is designed for dental hygiene graduates who graduated no longer than 15 years ago and have not been out of practice for more than 5 years. Dental Hygiene participants who have been out of practice for more than 5 years or who have graduated from a dental hygiene program greater than 15 years ago may require additional education and/or practice in order to be meet the Entry to Practice Guidelines as determined by the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta. This 4-day course will be comprised of a 3 hour didactic session reviewing the Dental Hygiene Process of Care, a 3 hour pre-clinical component using dental mannequins, a 3 hour session reviewing radiographs on mannequins and five 3 hour clinical sessions devoted to providing treatment to clients. The course will include a one hour debriefing session at the completion of the 4-day course. The course will consist of individualized instruction and continuous assessment and evaluation of clinical procedures performed during the course. Course participants are encouraged to interact with instructors throughout the course to maximize the mentoring and learning opportunities. PRE-REQUISITES: Participants must have a current CPR certificate (Healthcare Provider Level). OUT OF PROVINCE REGISTRANTS: Out of province participants must ensure their credentials are recognized by the CRDHA prior to registering in the course.
