MSc in Orthodontics

The MSc in Medical Sciences (Orthodontics) is a three-year full-time program which provides the academic and clinical experience for a successful private practice career.  Program completion will further depend on completion of program requirements including; didactic courses, clinical case completion, original research carried out under supervision, preparation and completion of a thesis, presentation of research findings at scientific meetings and submission for publication in peer reviewed journals.

Entrance Requirements

Candidates for the MSc degree in Medical Sciences (Orthodontics) are accepted under the general regulations of the Medical Sciences Graduate Program. Completion of a DDS or equivalent degree is required, with a grade point average of at least 3.0 (or equivalent qualification) in the last 60 units of course weight of their dental program. One year of general dentist experience is required. Admission to graduate programs is dependent upon the recommendation of the department's Graduate Committee.

Candidates should be prepared to support themselves for the duration of their selected program, although funding from scholarships and studentships may be obtained on a competitive basis.

An additional clinical fee is proposed for 2012.

Canadian Applications
October 1 (September admission)

Proof of proficiency in the English language is required if English is not your native language. For proof of English language proficiency, the applicant must take one of the following tests and receive a satisfactory score of:

  • TOEFL paper-based score of 570
  • TOEFL computer-based score equivalent of 230
  • TOEFL internet-based score equivalent of 95 (with at least 20 per section)
  • CAEL minimum score of 70 with at least 70 on each subtest
  • IELTS (Academic test) score of 7.5 with at least 6 on each band
